As one of our team put it, Wednesday saw many records broken. Worst defeat ever; largest negative score by individual pair; two pairs with all four negative quarter scores. The best record was, however, set at our table - my partner, Jim Mason, broke his own individual in-session drinking record for a match - five pints of strong cider. I wouldn't have minded, but he was still able to construct a perfectly coherent argument for why my defence was utterly abysmal. Maybe I should try a few ciders too.
