Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts
West North East South
1spade 3diamond* Pass
4heart 4spade Dble Pass
5diamond Dble End

* strong pre-empt

North opened 1spade, East overcalled 3diamond, a sound pre-empt at this vulnerability, South inexplicably passed and I tried 4heart. This North found the extraordinary bid of 4spade, doubled by partner to show some defence! It seems odd that 4spade was doubled at one table and 6spade was waived through at another. Anyway I didn't fancy this and bid 5diamond, doubled by North for +200.

The fourth result was North playing in 5spade, making on the nose for +650. In all a fascinating board, shame about the shocking bridge!
