The auction had developed just beautifully for South, and North's pass over 7heart, showing first round control, was just what the doctor ordered.

Against minus 2920 for 7spade redoubled, minus 100 in 6heart doesn't seem so bad, does it? Unusual for two off in a freely bid slam to have felt so good.

Believe it or not, but +2920 was not the worst East-West score! Due to a slight bidding misunderstanding, one East ended in 7NT ... don't ask. This was doubled and disappeared for minus 3500!!!
