Declarer now led a spade and South won to switch to a belated trump. North won the queen and continued with a high spade, ruffed in dummy. A third round of diamonds was ruffed by South who continued trumps, so declarer won heartA and led a fourth round of diamonds to make heartJ en passant. No problem.

It would have been even easier had declarer ruffed a fourth club in dummy. Now a third diamond is ruffed by South and declarer promotes himself an extra trump winner even more straightforwardly by winning heartA and leading another diamond.

In the other room North played quietly in 1NT. At least I presume he was quiet because the defence took the first eleven tricks!
