I was East and had the decision of whether or not to rebid 1NT made easy when North came in with 1spade. With double or a raise in hearts as possible alternatives, I decided to make a skewed reverse - hoping to return to hearts at some stage. I never did get that opportunity, and I thought my partner, Sue Bowyer, made a well judged bid with 5club over South's pre-emptive leap to 3spade.

The play was straightforward after South led ace and another spade.
