At the table South embarked on a cross-ruff line, but first he wanted to get a diamond trick under his belt. West ducked a low diamond to dummy's queen so declarer ruffed a club, cashed spadeA throwing a diamond from dummy, and led spadeQ, covered and ruffed. Another club was ruffed and South continued with spade10, also covered and ruffed. Declarer ruffed a fourth club with heartA as East threw a spade. On spade9 West followed with the seven and East ruffed with heart2. This was the position as East led a diamond and dummy ruffed.
