The best way of approaching them is:- not yet! At the table South took her eye off the ball and immediately ran diamond10. A very astute East won this and switched smartly to heartQ, so South covered and West won with the ace. By now the terrible truth had dawned on South and West cashed heartJ before putting dummy in with a diamond. Three spades tricks had gone down the drain and the defence ended up making three club tricks, two hearts and a diamond - one off!
