2club, 2NT, 3club and 3NT are all plausible alternatives, but at the table Rodrigue (West) decided that, as it was IMPs, he would push on with a forcing 3club. East bid 3spade and now West completed the picture by rebidding 3NT - surely showing a 5-2-2-4 shape. Nevertheless East decided to play in 4spade - indeed many players would have raised to 2spade in the first place - including me.

After a while North put club9 on the table. Now that's an interesting lead ...
