Yes it is right - cash it now! At the table a rather too ambitious North exited with a fourth diamond in the hope of beating 3NT by two, but he was soon to be disappointed. Winning with diamond8, declarer cashed his two clubs ending in dummy and, although North threw spade5 without apparent discomfort, on the spade from dummy declarer went up with spadeA to drop North's king. Minus 600 did not score well for North-South. Declarer had realised that North must hold spadeK - otherwise why had he been so prepared to delay cashing heart10?
