Anthony admitted that he could see this ending coming, so if he'd thought a little harder, he should have played back a second heart on winning with heartK. This destroys the link back to hand to execute the squeeze - so long as partner plays a spade when declarer gives him his diamond tricks (which he must do or the defence take him straight off when West wins a black trick). With West having both black suits covered and declarer having fewer than four hearts on the auction, there's no rush to play a second diamond. As Anthony says, West can see the squeeze coming, and because a diamond only gives you four tricks you should start looking for the fifth.

It wasn't all bad news - Anthony still won the rubber!
