. . . North gave declarer a nasty surprise when he won with the queen. Declarer won the heart return with the ace, ruffed a diamond with spadeA and continued with dummy's last trump. South ducked again, won the trump continuation and put dummy in with a third heart. With no easy way back to hand West lost another trump and a diamond too for one off.

Yesterday's deal illustrated a ghastly result for a pre-empter, but the North-South here result redresses the balance. It's interesting to note that Zia is an avid fan of pre-empts with side suits of Qx - today's deal show why.
