He took the heart finesse and exited with a club. Knowing that North would be short, declarer prayed for a singleton honour. His prayers were rewarded when North cashed his diamond and spade winners but was forced to lead a heart into West's tenace at trick twelve.

It would have been no better for South to overtake his partner's clubQ - declarer now makes a club trick.
