It seemed to declarer that on the bidding North could not possibly hold diamondK and East duly lashed down diamondA. When the king dropped the finishing post was in sight and declarer cashed the diamonds. By this stage both defenders were in trouble and eventually a double squeeze gave declarer an unlikely overtrick.

In the other room the much better contract of 5diamond was reached, but declarer had an off day and went one off.
