Say you led heartJ, covered, and returned to spadeJ to lead another heart. Do you finesse the eight, playing West for heart9xx, and risk losing to heart9 in East's hand?!

So, win clubA, cash heartK and run the ten. You've got him whether he covers or not. Assuming East does cover, you will be able to cross back to dummy with a spade, run heart8, return to hand with a spade (best) or diamondA to draw the last trump. You can now force out diamondK while still retaining a trump in hand.
