Even if partner has spadeK10 or spadeK9 there is a very real danger in continuing spades. You will have to discard a diamond on the fourth spade and well before declarer cashes diamondAK you will have seen what's coming. With four card holdings in the rounded suits, the second high diamond will force you to relinquish the ninth trick.

At the table East found a diamond switch at trick two. South exited with another spade to East who switched to heartJ. South crossed to hand with clubA and led a third spade, but after West had cashed two spades he continued hearts, ruining the entry position for South's squeeze. One off.
