I hope that you won with the ace and continued diamonds! At the table West switched to a club and that was 590 to North-South to go with the 300 from 5spade doubled in the other room.

31/03/2026: After reading this again, I think West made a bad error by not making the classic lead in this sort of situation. Lead the highest card in your agreed suit (in this case heartQ ) to retain the lead to see partner's signal. When East takes charge by overtaking and switching to diamond2, it makes it much cleaer what West's continuation should be. Agree?
