Peter and his partner, Alex Hogg, play an aggressive version of the carrot club - a system which proved well suited for competing effectively in part-score deals. A part score was not the subject of this deal ..

North opens a carrot club (any 17+ or 10-12 bal), South bids a spade (4+ suit, 7+pts) and North relays showing 17+pts with an interest in South's distribution. South repeated the spades rather than showing hearts and North bid 4spade. Thinking that North probably had a minimum with four hearts South punted 6heart, corrected to 6spade. As you can see, 6spade is not the best slam ever reached, but not to worry, the opponents are always available to lend a helping hand. How do you play when West leads a trump and spade10 holds?
