Much the most sensible thing to do is to pass. That spade suit could be easily sitting opposite ace to five or six in partner's hand, when partner wouldn't thank you for opening at the three or four level in hearts.

So after two passes West opens 1diamond and partner overcalls with 2club. What would you say after East's negative double?
