North raised to 3NT and, as you can see, that was an excellent decision. In the other room, South began with a conventional 20-22 2NT and North showed her spades with a transfer to 3heart. With that spade holding and a control heavy hand it was always going to be difficult for South to choose 3NT, and 4spade became the final contract. How would you play on the lead of spade8? Let's say you begin by drawing trumps and East discards two small hearts on spadeKQ.
