South breathed a sigh of relief as both defenders followed to diamondA, but when South led a third diamond West threw a heart after some thought. A heart ruff in hand and a diamond ruffed with dummy's clubQ had led South to the crossroads. If the trumps were 2-2 the winning line was to cash clubA, ruff a heart and claim.
