Nah! They made 4spade (with no opposition bidding!!!) in the other room, and went on to win easily.

Belladonna's "misplay" would not occur today. Dummy's involvement is confined to little more than doing as he is told, but at local level I'd bet that we all know a cantankerous old Myrtle or Albert who thinks that it's dummy's divine right to "assist" declarer.

It is interesting to note that in a more recent World Championship the Canadians, perhaps more honourable than us Brits, waived the rules in such a situation.
