The one South to read the situation correctly reflected on his opponents' bidding, or lack of it. Realising that West had started with eleven black cards, yet had not entered the bidding, it appeared highly unlikely that he would hold six spades or more. In that case he must have at least six clubs and the winning line was clear. After ruffing a heart back to hand, instead of a ruffing finesse he opted to ruff a club in dummy, predicting the fall of clubA as he did so. The ace duly obliged and South's +640 scored a complete top.
