The structure of our club is unusual in that we operate only within our county league and don't have club nights - let alone a clubhouse! Our AGM is being held today and running up to it there has been an argument raging between the fastest player in the club, a veritable Alan Wells** of the green baize, and another who plays in the more "considered" style - we'll call him CS. As you might expect, the tiff is all about speed of play. Things came to a head after the last match when AW, who has played at international level, finished 27 minutes early but scored -27 IMPs on the Butler. Meanwhile CS had been taking his time and racked up +36 IMPs. As I have both tortoise and snail ancestry, my sympathies must reside with CS. Anyway, a furious exchange of e-mails followed where the quality of insult finished at an extremely high level. It should be quite an entertaining evening.
