South led ace and another club and North continued the suit for a ruff and over-ruff. North ruffed the spade return and reverted to clubs. This pattern continued until South over-ruffed East's heartJ, drew the last trump and claimed the rest. East could have made at least two tricks by "careful" play . fat lot of good that would have done! East's best chance of a good score was to pass 3diamond!

The deal was originally reported in the month of April many years ago. I reckon someone who dealt the cards was having a little joke, don't you?
