Well, to illustrate a point. No slam is good on these cards, but it's not inconceivable that had East opened 1diamond then East-West might have reached 6diamond, and this is one of those unusual deals where it's much easier to play in the shorter potential trump suit!

In 6diamond East wins heartA and cashes diamondAK, clubAK. When that passes off peacefully then you can run the clubs and ditch a spade from hand. Now you cash spadeAK and ruff dummy's last spade, losing only to diamondJ. Note that 6diamond requires almost exactly the same in the minor suits as 6club, but does not require a favourable spade position. Not a good slam, but better than 6club.
