At the table South found the classic false card when he dropped diamond9 at trick two, giving declarer a nasty guess. Was South's diamond9 a true card? If so, West could pick up North's diamondJ762 and accordingly led low from dummy. When South followed with the six declarer agonized for ages before eventually playing the king, no doubt mortified to see North show out. One off. Of course had South followed routinely at trick two with diamond6 then West would have no guess to make, diamondJ972 in the North hand being impregnable.
