At the table West switched to a heart. Declarer won in dummy and played a small spade to spadeK in hand - revealing the bad break. West won and continued with a heart, but South ruffed in hand and led a spade forcing West to split his spade109. There was still diamondK as an entry to the South hand, and after cashing some club winners a third spade allowed declarer to pick up West's trumps without further loss.
