It was virtually double dummy by now. West looked an honest person and her discards showed three spades and five clubs. If I led clubK, clubJ, I knew that West would deliberately block the clubs by covering the jack, thereby preventing me from enjoying four club tricks, so how could I induce her to play low when I led clubJ? It seemed obvious to lead clubJ first, when from West's point of view it would be much less attractive to cover .. you can see what happened. Two light.

What I had completely overlooked (and this was pointed out by a contemptuous team captain) ...
