This is one of those contracts where the play looks all too obvious in problem form, but it would be a careful player who found it at the table. All that is required is to play the clubs for five tricks, and that is best achieved by crossing to dummy with diamondK and leading a small club towards hand. When North turns up with singleton queen you can win, cash clubJ and finesse against South's ten. So simple. So easy to miss.

Of course, if you cashed clubA at trick two then you too are safe from having to make grovelling apologies to your team-mates.
