. . . at this stage declarer might have seen the folly of ruffing with heart8 because even if it won there would be no easy way of returning to hand to draw the trumps - other than overtaking the queen. As it was, West was able to over-ruff with heartJ and fire back a club to promote heart10 for her partner. The superficially attractive line of ruffing two diamonds low is an illusion - declarer needs the trumps to be three-two.
