Counting East for diamondKx, and hence a 3-5-2-3 shape, declarer rose with heartK and cashed three clubs ending with the queen. He then led heart2 from the dummy, and East had to insert the eight to stop South winning with the seven, so heartQ won. South ruffed his last spade with heart10. East was able to over-ruff but now his heart96 sat under declarer's heartA7. Nicely played for plus 620. Declarer can always get home - even if West covers spade10 - but it is vital that three clubs are cashed before leading the last spade to be ruffed in dummy.

And the EBU ruling ....?
