At the table declarer adopted a match point pairs line. He won the trump lead cheaply and cashed spadeAQ. After crossing to dummy with clubA he disposed of heartK on spadeK. North ruffed and played ace and another heart. West ruffed, forced out diamondA and ruffed the next heart, but when the diamonds failed to break there was no parking place for dummy's remaining heart.

If West plays diamondK at trick two he can ruff the second heart, ruff a low diamond, draw trumps and claim.
