The death of Boris Schapiro at the tender age of 93 has marked the end of an era. Over the years he played with many great players and continued to play high quality bridge, usually at the rubber bridge table, until the last few months of his life.

Today's deal comes when Shapiro and his French partner, Claude Delmouly, found themselves up against Irving Rose and Jeremy Flint in the prestigious Sunday Times Pairs championship.
