Declarer ruffs and leads a club. Let's say you win and switch to a trump - a trick too late. Declarer wins and plays another club, so you win clubQ and lead a second trump. East wins, ruffs a club, ruffs a diamond in hand, draws the last trump, cashes clubK and plays to spadeK in the dummy. Whatever happens declarer is bound to make five trumps, clubK, a club ruff and a spade. An alternative defence of playing diamonds at every opportunity meets with a similar lack of success.

Maybe 1diamond would have worked better here, for 3diamond by South is fairly straightforward.
