At the table West chose a spade - not good enough! Declarer rose with the ace, played a heart to the queen and ducked a heart to East. Spades were continued so declarer ducked, won the third spade and forced out heartA. Although East was able to cash spadeQ declarer was able to guess the diamond situation correctly and wrap up a valuable game.

It doesn't need me to explain what happens if West leads the fourth highest of his longest and strongest suit. I should know. I was West.
