. . . you cannot afford to play passively by exiting with diamondJ - as did South at the table. Declarer ditched a heart on diamondQ and crossed-ruffed his way to ten tricks, returning to hand via heart ruffs.

Although ace and another spade would be successful here, it would be better to switch to a small spade at trick two - partner might have spadeQx. There is a similar hand in one of Kelsey's books - a small spade retains control, while still attacking the threat of cheap ruffs in dummy.
