You may remember that South was declarer in 4spade on the lead of diamond5. The normal reaction is for South to play a trump immediately, but Anthony had spotted that if South was concerned about the possibility of a diamond ruff then it would be good technique to eliminate hearts first. King, ace and a heart ruffed would be followed by spadeJ from hand.
