. . . when the club is led from dummy East has no good answer - declarer must take four of the last five tricks. If East ruffs declarer overruffs and plays ace and another trump, making the two diamonds at the end. If East unguards diamondK then South ruffs cheaply and plays two diamonds, again leaving East on lead at trick twelve.

When the finesse of spade10 held at trick four declarer was faced with the prospect of both diamonds and trumps breaking badly. South's devious line of play was inspired by the need to call upon a little help from the defence.
