Surely this is a straight choice between pass, 3NT and double, and I guess that 75% of Norths would choose this last option. To pass is pusillanimous, and surely losing bridge in the long term. Maybe I'm being a result merchant here, but I think there is a good case for selecting 3NT. A is a big control card, and you could not expect partner to be able to bid 3NT with, say, scattered values and either Qx or Jxx. A in your hand also lessens the chances that partner will be able to pass a double for penalties.
