Surely this is a straight choice between pass, 3NT and double, and I guess that 75% of Norths would choose this last option. To pass is pusillanimous, and surely losing bridge in the long term. Maybe I'm being a result merchant here, but I think there is a good case for selecting 3NT. spadeA is a big control card, and you could not expect partner to be able to bid 3NT with, say, scattered values and either spadeQx or spadeJxx. spadeA in your hand also lessens the chances that partner will be able to pass a double for penalties.
