Declarer cashed diamondQ and North threw heart4! Reading North for a possible 4-5-0-4 shape, West cashed the remaining diamonds and crossed to heartK to see the jack appear from South. Having watched the discards carefully and asked himself why North had led away from heartQ, declarer cashed ace and king of clubs dropping North's queen! clubJ now executed the coup de gras of a progressive squeeze. Not bad, eh?
