Amazingly enough East continued with another high club. South ruffed, drew trumps and led a spade to the king and ace. With diamondA still present in dummy there were plenty of winners for South to make ten tricks.

Of course East should switch to diamondK at trick two or three to remove dummy's entry. West's club2 surely cannot show three - that would give him seven diamonds and he would have removed 4heart doubled to 5diamond. This defence could only be wrong if South has diamondQ10 and West heart10, when a spade continuation would promote a trump trick
