I must mention what happened at one table. West was the resident joker and after a series of bluffs, with South applying the axe with rapidly increasing enthusiasm, East-West were unaccountably left to play in 3spade. With a slam in either minor absolutely cold (as the cards lay), -140 did not exactly get the juices flowing . . . . except for the joker of course.
