This is a classic situation, and I'm sure that many of you will have refused the opportunity to split your diamondKQJ. Partner will not have three diamonds after diamond7 lead, so you must concede your second diamond trick early while West still retains another. When West gets in with heartK the diamond continuation will force out diamondA while you still retain heartA entry, and South will be restricted to a maxiumum of eight tricks. We would all have had to be wide awake to spot this at the table!
