The obvious diamond finesse awaits those declarers who only see the obvious line, but there is a better one - as you may have guessed. This involves using those club intermediates to throw diamonds. South won heartA, crossed to dummy with spadeQ and led clubK. East covered with the ace so South ruffed, crossed back to dummy with spade10 and led club10. When East played low South threw a diamond from hand and West won with the queen. The diamond return was won with the ace and South's last diamond thrown on the established club8. A nice little loser-on-loser play - and note that the contract would still succeed if West had led from clubAxxx.
