Is the golden rule of bidding your long major before your equally long minor applicable here - surely the primary task is to end in the correct denomination? If you bid 3heart and partner show diamonds, does 5club sound like a second suit? I think not. If you try 3club and North rebids 3spade how will 4heart sound to him? Let's assume that your methods allow you to try 3club, forcing, and partner bids 3diamond - his suit. You now try 3heart, partner will probably offer 3spade - a more unusual variation of fourth suit forcing.
