a) lead a heart initially to remove a vital entry from dummy
b) when North leads a small spade East must fly in with the queen to prevent declarer gaining an extra entry by finessing the ten - a defence that 90% might find as a problem and 10% might find at the table. Of course if North leads the jack then East must play low, restricting dummy's spade entries to one.
