Chambers won clubA and, rather than compromise her holdings in the pointed suits, immediately ran heartJ. When that held she drew two more rounds of trumps and ran the jack of spades. When South failed to cover with the king declarer exited with a club, neatly end-playing South, who continued with a further club. Declarer threw the losing spade from dummy and played three rounds of diamonds, scoring +450 and an excellent match-point result.
