South cashed the high hearts in hand and played a diamond to dummy's queen. After cashing heartK and winning a spade in hand with the queen, he won a seventh trick with heartK in dummy. After this excellent start South cut adrift with a diamond and waited for his eighth trick courtesy of a black king.

He's still waiting. West cashed his two red suit winners and South was caught in a rare criss-cross squeeze on declarer! This was the ending as West led heart10.
