I reckon most red-bloodied players would double here - especially at this vulnerability. To let the oppo play unruffled in a probable eight or even nine card fit is not a good match-point policy, so you double. Partner bids 2NT to offer a choice of minors and you bid 3diamond after East's pass. West comes back to life with 3heart and partner unexpectedly doubles, presumably shooting for the magic 200.
