This is one of my favourite deals on this site because of its simplicity. East did nothing that could be described as brilliant yet his simple decision of ruffing in hand at trick three rather than immediately winning with diamondK ensured success. After drawing trumps he played clubJ from hand and overtook with dummy's queen. What could North do? If he won clubK then all the clubs would be good, declarer would have an entry to them and a parking space for two losing hearts. If North ducked to kill the club suit then East would simply cash diamondK throwing club8 and play on hearts - a classic "Morton's Fork" coup . . . . Why so?
